How is BASED Curl Gel different from drugstore gels?
Unlike drugstore gels that contain synthetic polymers (PVP, Acrylates), drying alcohols, and fillers that cause flaking and stiff casts, BASED uses clean, premium ingredients like Irish Sea Moss and Flaxseed Extract for maximum hold without the mess. Drugstore brands use synthetic polymers because they're cheap, but they flake when scrunched out and leave nasty white residue. When you choose BASED, you get strong hold and definition with zero compromise.
How do I apply the BASED Curl Gel?
Apply to damp, freshly wet hair. Take a generous amount (quarter-sized for medium length), rake through curls in sections, then scrunch upward from ends to roots. The gel will form a cast as it dries. Once fully dry, scrunch out the cast for soft, defined curls. Let it air dry or diffuse.
Can I use the Curl Gel with other BASED curl products?
Yes. Layer it with the BASED Leave-In Conditioner for hydration plus hold, or apply after BASED Curl Cream for extra definition. You can also use BASED Curl Mousse at the roots for volume and BASED Curl Gel on the lengths for hold. Once you've styled, use the BASED Curl Refresh Spray on day 2 and beyond to reactivate your curls.
Will it flake or leave white residue?
No. Drugstore gels use synthetic polymers (PVP, Acrylates) and fillers that flake when they dry, especially when layered with other products or scrunched out. Our high-performance formula uses Irish Sea Moss and Flaxseed Extract for strong hold designed not to flake or leave white residue - just clean, defined curls.
What hair types is the BASED Curl Gel for?
The BASED Curl Gel works best for curly to coily hair (3A-4C) with at least ~4 inches of length. It provides the strong hold and structure that tighter curl patterns need for definition and frizz control.
Can I use it on color-treated or chemically-treated hair (e.g. perms)?
Yes. Our Curl Gel is formulated without parabens, silicones, and drying alcohols. We also never use cheap synthetic fragrances like others do. All of this makes it gentle enough for color-treated, keratin-treated, and chemically-treated hair like e.g. a perm.
What if it's not a fit for me?
Don't worry - that's why we created the BASED Guarantee. Most customers never need it, but if something isn't right, we've got you covered.
